HPAN Helps Pay for Hermie’s Surgery

Hermie was seen limping around aimlessly in an Oak Ridge neighborhood around Thanksgiving. A Good Samaritan tried to locate his owners, but had no luck, so he was taken to the Oak Ridge Animal Shelter. It was obvious that Hermie had been hit by a car. He was happy and jumpy, but not using his back leg. A Friends of Oak Ridge Animal Shelter volunteer took Hermie to a local vet for evaluation where it was determined that he had a broken pelvis. The vet agreed to comp his part of the fee, which brought the estimate down to $680. HPAN agreed to pay half, so $340 was donated. Surgery was performed, and Hermie is on his way to recovery.
